Cake Base Ingredients
  • 1 ¾ cups All-purpose flour
  • 1 ½ cups Granulated sugar
  • ¾ cup Unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 2 tsp Baking soda
  • 1 tsp Baking powder
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 2 large Eggs
  • 1 cup Buttermilk
  • ½ cup Vegetable oil
  • 2 tsp Vanilla extract
  • 1 cup Hot coffee Enhances chocolate flavor
Chocolate Mousse Ingredients
  • 1 ½ cups Heavy whipping cream
  • 1 ½ cups Semi-sweet chocolate, melted and cooled
  • ¼ cup Powdered sugar
Ganache Drip & Topping Ingredients
  • 1 cup Semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • ½ cup Heavy cream
  • Chocolate curls or shavings For garnish

Method
 

  1. Step 1: Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line two 8-inch pans. Mix dry ingredients in one bowl and wet ingredients in another. Combine and add hot coffee. Pour into pans and bake for 30–35 minutes. Let cool completely.
  2. Step 2: For the mousse, melt chocolate and let cool. Whip cream with powdered sugar until stiff peaks form, then fold in the chocolate.
  3. Step 3: Place one cake layer on a stand, spread mousse evenly, and top with the second layer. Chill for 30 minutes.
  4. Step 4: For the ganache, heat cream and pour over chocolate chips. Stir until glossy. Let cool slightly, then pour over the cake for a smooth drip.
  5. Step 5: Garnish with chocolate curls or shavings before serving.

Notes

Chill the cake before adding ganache to achieve a clean drip. Use a mix of dark and milk chocolate for balanced flavor.
